Ostrich is a very healthy red meat with all the hearty flavor of beef. Extremely high in protein, low in fat, calories, cholesterol but high in Iron– Ostrich meat is even lower in fat grams than skinless chicken or turkey!

Ostrich meat is best eaten rare to medium rare, which requires no more than two to three minutes' cooking on either side, depending on how thick you cut the steaks. A marinade is usually recommended to keep the meat moist.
For a great marinade, mix lime or lemon juice, honey, and mustard together and pour over the steaks at least 1 hour before cooking. Keep the marinated meat cool in the fridge, then fry the steaks in olive oil. You can even put these on the grill if you want to surprise the guests at your next BBQ party.
