Nicky's Take
Getting a meat block is great, because you can cut it up to your desired thickness!
Use The Meat Guy's original BBQ sauce instead of the normal Japanese tonkatsu sauce for extra richness!
Directions
-
Cut the pork loin into individual steaks. The thickness is up to you.*Cut along the outside of the meat to prevent it from shrinking during the cooking process.
-
Using a fork, pierce the meat a couple of times on both sides, then season with salt & pepper.
-
In a bowl, crack the egg, add milk, and flour, in that order. Mix well to make the batter.
-
Spread the breadcrumbs on a tray or big plate to prepare for breading. Coat the pork with batter, then place it on the breadcrumbs. Lightly press each side down to coat the pork in panko.*Make sure to coat both sides with batter and panko.
-
In a 26cm-diameter frying pan, add oil. It should be about 2cm-deep. Pre-heat to 170°C.
-
Fry the breaded pork for about 5-6 minutes, turning it over halfway through.*Make sure that the meat is thoroughly cooked all the way to the center.*Adjust the frying time according to the thickness of the meat.
-
Serve with shredded cabbage on the side, and you're done! You can use store-bought tonkatsu sauce, or The Meat Guy's original BBQ sauce for extra flavor.

The best part is that you can adjust the thickness of the meat depending on how hungry you are on that day! So juicy!

It's a bit tough to dispose of oil at home, so it's nice to be able to use it for this dish! So crispy!
