The appeal of New Zealand grass-fed lamb!

Grass-fed lamb from New Zealand available at Meat Guy.
With little of the gamey flavor typical of lamb, it is one of our most popular products and is highly acclaimed by our customers!

This time, we will tell you about the characteristics of New Zealand grass-fed lamb and how it is raised!

1. New Zealand, the ideal country for raising sheep and pasture

New Zealand has a temperate maritime climate, meaning it is cool and receives abundant rainfall throughout the year.
In particular, the South Island, where many sheep are raised, receives snowmelt from the Southern Alps that becomes groundwater, providing abundant water resources throughout the region. This allows the sheep to be raised on a pasture-based diet all year round without any grain.
While New Zealand receives a lot of rainfall, it also enjoys long hours of sunshine, creating an ideal environment for pasture growth.
Sheep, which are resistant to the cold but sensitive to heat, grow freely and without stress in this cool environment.

2. New Zealand's uniquely carefully selected pasture

New Zealand livestock farmers are highly particular about the pasture that feeds their sheep.
The pasture that feeds the sheep is not just ordinary weeds.
Just like vegetable and fruit farmers, New Zealand livestock farmers begin by tilling the soil, applying fertilizer, and sowing seeds to grow pasture in the same way they grow vegetables and fruit.
They carefully blend pasture varieties, including perennial ryegrass, a grass family plant rich in vitamins, white clover, a legume family plant rich in protein, and other herbs, to create the optimal pasture for sheep growth.
Abundant water resources, a cool environment, and carefully selected pasture. All of these come together to create lean meat with a refined flavor and superior quality.

3. Carefully selected WAKANUI Spring Lamb

Spring lamb is a seasonal young lamb raised on pasture that is most nutritious during New Zealand's spring to early summer.
It is such a high-quality young lamb that it is described as "Best Season Lamb" in Europe.
WAKANUI Spring Lamb is particularly fine-grained, tender, juicy, and refined in flavor, and is a very small young lamb aged approximately 3 to 6 months.

It is stored at a low temperature of -1°C from New Zealand to Japan for about 4 to 5 weeks to fully bring out the meat's umami and tenderness, then flash-frozen. This allows us to deliver "seasonal" spring lamb to our customers all year round while preserving the quality of the meat.

Even for those who are not fond of lamb, WAKANUI Spring Lamb is sure to be delicious!
