Cheaper charcoals sold in home centers emit smoke and tend to have sudden bursts of flame... Plus, burning time is pretty short too, so you're left with a bunch of ash all up in your grill! BOOOO!
This high-grade charcoal is also known as "binchotan" here in Japan. High-grade charcoal that pros love; this one takes a bit of time to catch fire, but once it's lit, it'll last for up to 4 or 5 hours!
It won't have as much smoke as the cheaper types and your food won't get soot all over it, giving you perfectly delicious grilled awesomeness!
This product is made purely of bamboo sawdust from the production of bamboo skewers.
Tokiwa Binchotan is named after the king of charcoals "Bincho" from which it has similar specs to.
It's different from Briquette charcoal, which you would usually find in home centers or warehouse supermarkets, in that it doesn't use any adhesives or harmful substances. It has almost no odor and won't explode and burn your eyebrows off.

Each box is packed with 10kg of charcoal.
・What to prepare
Tokiwa Bincho charcoal, cheap charcoal, igniting agent (charcoal lighter fluid/gel, fire starter block, etc.), charcoal chimney starter
1. Place the cheap charcoal and fire starting agent inside the charcoal chimney starter, then light it up. (A small amount is OK.)
2. Once the cheap charcoal is ignited, add the bincho charcoal in there and wait until it catches fire (whitens).
This should take around 30 mins, but the amount of time it takes to ignite may vary depending on the amount of charcoal and air flow.
3. Once everything is all lit, carefully pour out of the chimney starter, warm up the grate and start grilling!
・Burning charcoal emits some harmful gases like carbon monoxide, so please use it outdoors. If using indoors like in restaurants, etc. always use it in a ventilated environment.
・When in a group, please make sure that it is always handled and managed by an adult.
・In rare cases, sparks may fly from the ignited charcoal, and it may pop off, so please keep any flammable materials away from the fire. Also, make sure that it is fully lit before using. When adding more charcoal, be sure to warm it up sufficiently near the original flame before use.
・When extinguishing the fire, do not pour water on it.Charcoal that has retained its original shape can be saved and used again.
・Do not bury it in soil or sand. The flame doesn't go out very easily. If burried in soil as it is, it may cause a fire. Please handle it properly according to the rules of the campsite or barbecue site.
This item cannot be packaged with frozen or chilled items.
If you order frozen or chilled products at the same time, this product will be shipped separately, and the separate shipping cost will be covered by the customer.
