With that in mind, we’d like to introduce The Meat Guy’s original spice mix set! This set includes 3 different spice mixes: steak, taco & chili, and almighty. We’ll give you a brief introduction of each spice blend, plus some ideas and recipes for ways to use up the spices! Let’s go!

The Meat Guy Spice Mix Set… Ever heard of it?

First, let’s take a look at the differences between the spices.

Steak Spice

The steak spice has a base mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. These spices complement the meaty flavor of steaks very well, while giving it a nice punch!

The Meat Guy is not only focused on making great-tasting spices. They are also particular about how the spices are ground. Coarse and fine ground herbs & spices are mixed together to ensure that you get a nice bit of flavor in every bite. Dill seeds, basil, paprika powder, mustard seeds, coriander, and cayenne pepper were also added in there to give an aromatic herbal tang.

With just a sprinkle of this spice onto both sides of the meat, you can transform it into a beautiful American-style steak!

Taco & Chili Spice

The taco & chili spice is a Mexican-style spice blend. Obviously, it’s great for making tacos, but you can use it for more than just that! The base mix consists of salt and garlic powder, with an emphasis on the garlic flavor. On top of that, a blend of paprika powder, cumin, pepper, cayenne pepper, sugar and oregano are added to complete the flavor.

It’s got a noticeably reddish color, which might make you think that it’s extremely spicy... Don’t worry. It’s not the type of spicy that’ll give you major sweats. It’s just the right balance of sweet and spicy that’ll keep you coming back for more! Watch how much you put into your dishes, though. It’s best to test it out first, so you can gauge the level of flavor you want in your finished dish. As we mentioned, it’s great for making tacos, but we also recommend it for spicy curry!

Almighty Spice

The almighty spice is a blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, mace powder, basil, paprika powder, parsley, oregano, rosemary, and sage.

All these herbs & spices harmonize with each other to create a refreshing taste without being too overpowering. It’s great for just about any meat or fish dish!

3 Meat Recipe Recommendations

Now that you know the difference between the three spices, let's actually start using them up in our dishes.
Here are three simple recipes that might help you get an idea for what to make next! Try each of the spice blends individually or mix them up to create your own original creation!

Hamburger Steak (Almighty Spice)

Hamburger Steak (Almighty Spice)

Is it just a regular hamburger steak though? You might be surprised at how close this is to the ones you get at a restaurant. This recipe uses only a couple of simple ingredients, but that touch of almighty spice really brings it to a whole new level! You can enjoy it as is or sandwich it between hamburger buns.

<INGREDIENTS>
  • ground beef 500g (keep it cold)
  • onion 2/3 or about 150g (finely chopped)
  • salt 3g
  • almighty spice 1 tsp.
  • olive oil 1 tsp. for frying onions
  • olive oil 1 tbsp. for cooking the meat

<DIRECTIONS>
  • 1. Heat the oil (1 tsp.) in a pan over medium heat and fry half of the onions until they are caramelized. Set them aside and let them cool.
  • 2. Place the cold ground beef, raw onions, stir-fried onions, salt, and almighty spice in a bowl.
  • 3. Prepare a separate bigger bowl with some ice water, then stack the bowl with the meat on top of the bowl with the ice water. Place 1 ice cube in the meat mixture and start kneading. Knead the meat as quickly as you can until the mixture becomes sticky and has a white hue.
  • 4. Divide into three equal parts, mold into a patty, then toss the patties from palm to palm about 3 to 4 times to release the air inside.
  • 5. Heat olive oil (1 tbsp.) in a pan over medium heat and start cooking the hamburger steak.
  • 6. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until one side is browned, flip it over, cover the pan, and lower the heat (low to medium), and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes.

Jambalaya (Taco & Chili Spice)

Jambalaya (Taco & Chili Spice)

For those who are unfamiliar with this delicious dish, Jambalaya is a type of Cajun cuisine (a regional dish around the Mississippi River in Louisiana in the southern part of North America.) It has some similarities with paella, but instead of seafood, Jambalaya usually includes meat and spicy seasoning. Traditionally, it’s cooked in a special pot and burner, but we’ll show you how to make it at home using a normal rice cooker.

<INGREDIENTS>(2 servings)
  • rice 2 gō or about 1.5 us cups (we recommend using unwashed rice, so the final product won’t be soggy)
  • The Meat Guy original sausage 2 pcs.
  • onion 1/4
  • bell pepper 1 piece
  • yellow bell pepper 1/2 pcs.
  • olive oil 1 tbsp.
  • tomato juice 200 ml
  • salt 2/3 tsp.
  • water 160 ml
  • taco & chili spice 1 tbsp.

<DIRECTIONS>
  • 1. Rinse the rice and drain the water thoroughly.
  • 2. Cut the sausages into 1cm-thick pieces, then chop the onions, peppers and paprika into about 5mm squares. Heat the olive oil in a pan at medium heat and fry these ingredients.
  • 3. Once the sausages are cooked, add the rice, and stir.
  • 4. When everything is evenly coated in oil, transfer to the rice cooker. Pour the tomato juice and water in there, and season with salt and taco & chili spice. Mix well before cooking.
  • 5. Serve on a plate and sprinkle with almighty spice (or Italian parsley) to complete.

Jerk Chicken

Jerk Chicken

This is a classic Jamaican dish featuring a spicy, tangy mix of spices. The term “jerk” refers to a style of cooking where meat, chicken, pork, or shrimp are coated in spices and slow-cooked over heat or charcoal. The Meat Guy’s spice blends will help bring your jerk dish close to the authentic Jamaican flavor.

<INGREDIENTS>(2 servings)
  • chicken thighs 2 pcs(about 600g)
  • olive oil 1 tbsp. (for seasoning)
  • taco & chili spice 1/2 tbsp.
  • steak spice 1 tbsp.
  • salt 1/2 tsp.
  • sugar 1 tsp.
  • olive oil 1 tbsp. (for frying)

<DIRECTIONS>
  • 1. Cut shallow slits on the surface of the chicken thighs to let the flavor seep in better and to prevent the meat from shrinking when cooked.
  • 2. Mix the rest of the ingredients in a bowl to make the jerk seasoning, then add the chicken. Rub the chicken thoroughly with the seasoning and leave for 10 minutes.
  • 3. Heat the oil (1 tbsp.) in a pan over medium heat. Place the chicken skin-side down and cook until golden brown.
  • 4. Flip the chicken and cook the other side until browned. Done!

It isn’t just for meat! Add a sprinkle of flavor in every dish

It isn’t just for meat! Add a sprinkle of flavor in every dish

You can use The Meat Guy’s spice mix set to add a touch of flavor to a variety of dishes other than meat!

First up is potato salad. Add some flare to the usual, boring potato salad with the spice blend! It’s even better if you can add some bacon or minced meat in there, but just the aroma of the spices can add that extra x-factor you might be looking for!

Next: ramen. We know. How much better can ramen get, right? But hear us out. If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, try adding some of these spices into your ramen. The steak spice goes well with shoyu (soy sauce base), shio (salt base), or miso ramen. Taco & chili spice goes particularly well with miso, shio (salt base), and tonkotsu (pork bone base) ramen.

Last, but certainly not the least: seafood and vegetable fritters! You can add the spice mix in the batter before frying or sprinkle afterwards to add more flavor.

Alright. That about sums it all up. Bottomline: The Meat Guy’s original spice mix set is a great starter kit for venturing into the world of herbs & spices. If you’re just starting out, it may feel overwhelming being confronted with all the choices out there. If your main goal is to just add more flavor into your dishes, then this is a no-brainer. Not only do these spice blends go well with a variety of dishes, but you also get a lot of it with each purchase! Try it out and let us know which one you like best.
