Meat Guy homemade hamburger set that you can enjoy at home or on a BBQ
With the ridiculous burger set, you won’t have to worry about prepping the burger or the buns... however, you still need to choose what other ingredients you want to sandwich in between those buns. Of course, you can just go with the burger... but you already have a great base in front of you, so why not go all out?!
RIDICULOUS HOMEMADE HAMBURGER RECIPE!
The burger set includes: a 19cm diameter bun,
And a 450g giant burger patty. Simple. Oh, and the egg is there for scale. Not included in the set.
The usual go-to’s for sauces include: ketchup, mayo, and mustard. We personally like using our original BBQ sauce or even dressings like thousand island, Caesar or ranch!
Also, if you want to add more volume to your burger, The Meat Guy offers a variety of burger-worthy ingredients like ham & bacon, raw sausages, and cheese, so be sure to check them out!
First off, the basic! Easy home-made burger recipe
First, let’s get down to basics. We’ll show you how to cook the patty, heat the buns, and then assemble your burger. This is so easy, even kitchen newbies can get the job done. We recommend using a frying pan with a flat surface, around 20 cm or more in diameter. When cooking the patty, it’ll shrink by about 1 cm. Still, the larger the cooking surface, the easier it will be to cook.
BASIC COOKING METHOD
- <BURGER PATTY>
-
- 1. Transfer the patty from your freezer to the refrigerator and thaw for at least half a day.
- 2. Heat some oil in a frying pan at medium heat.
- 3. When smoke starts to come off the pan, place the patty in there and cook for about 4-5 mins on one side.
- 4. Flip it over, cover, lower the heat and cook for another 4-5 mins.
- 5. Lightly press the center of the patty with your finger. If it’s bouncy, it’s done.
- 6. Once the patty is cooked, place some cheese on top and let it melt with the residual heat.
- <BUNS>
-
- 1. Transfer the buns from your freezer to the refrigerator and thaw for at least half a day.
- 2. You can heat them in a toaster or an oven. If you want, you can also just use a frying pan and heat each bun at medium heat for about 2-3 mins. We recommend heating the bottom bun first, then heat the top while you’re assembling your burger.
The buns are good enough to be enjoyed as is after thawing. But of course, it’s even more delicious when warmed!
- <OTHER INGREDIENTS>
-
- 1. Slice some onion rings about 1cm thick and heat both sides.
- 2. Slice tomato rings too about 1cm thick, and take out the seeds to avoid getting a sloppy burger.
- 3. Cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces, wash and drain well.
- 4. Cook bacon and fried egg. If you like, you can add pickles, avocados , etc.
- <ASSEMBLY>
-
- 1.Apply mayonnaise or mustard to the bottom bun. On top of adding flavor, it also helps in preventing the bun from slipping off, as well as for any juices to be absorbed in the bun. So don’t forget to sauce that bottom bun!
- 2. To prevent the juices from seeping into the bottom bun, place the lettuce at the very bottom. Place the rest of your ingredients on the bun as you like. We recommend placing the more watery ingredients like tomatoes, or fragile ones like avocados and eggs on top of the patty. For more unstable or oddly shaped ingredients, place those on the upper layer.
POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN MAKING OUTDOORS OR AT A BBQ
These ridiculous burgers are also great for BBQs or outdoor events! However, you have to make sure to keep the patty chilled or in a cooler box until just before you’re about to cook it. If the temperature is high, bacteria can easily grow on the meat. So, make sure to keep this in mind, especially in the summer!
To warm the buns, wrap them in aluminum foil and grill for 4-5 minutes on each side. For the patty, we recommend bringing a frying pan along, and cooking the patty there like you would at home. If that’s too much, then you can just wrap it in aluminum foil before grilling.
After wrapping in foil, you can then cook one side for about 2 mins, flip it over around 2-3 times, and it’ll be good to go! If you use a non-stick type foil then, you won’t have to worry about the meat sticking!
